This article reviews insulin resistance in obese cats. Diabetes is one of the complications of obesity and cats, and is caused by a loss of hepatic sensibility to insulin, decrease of beta-cell mass and function. However, some cats remain euglycemic even with marked obesity and are able to maintain hepatic insulin sensitivity.
